01 How does kitcod.es verify football shirts?
We verify football kits by comparing product codes against a curated and continuously growing database built from multiple sources. We collect product code information from a mix of verified references, historical records, community submissions, and real-world checks performed by collectors and retailers. When a product code is entered, the system looks for consistent matches across available sources. If enough independent references point to the same kit, the result is presented as a probable match.
02 Does a matching product code mean a shirt is 100% authentic?
No. A matching product code is a strong first indicator, but it's not a definitive guarantee of authenticity. Counterfeit shirts can reuse real product codes, and genuine kits can have multiple variants (replica, authentic, player issue) that share similar details. That's why kitcod.es is designed as a first step in verification, supported by our documentation that explains what else to look for.
03 Why don't you show a full list of product codes publicly?
We intentionally don't publish a full list of product codes publicly. Making the entire dataset available would make it easier for counterfeiters to copy valid codes and misuse them, which goes directly against the goal of improving trust and transparency.

Instead, kitcod.es works on a query-based model: users provide a product code they already have, and we tell them what that code is associated with. This approach helps fans and collectors verify what they're looking at, while protecting the integrity of the underlying data and the brands involved.
04 What should I do if my product code isn't found?
A missing code doesn't automatically mean the shirt is fake. The database is still growing, and some kits, variants, or older releases may simply not be documented yet.

When a code isn't recognized, your lookup still helps improve the platform. Unmatched searches are logged and reviewed, allowing us to identify missing data or potential new entries. You're welcome to submit additional details or photos to help us verify and add it.

In the meantime, check our brand-specific guides for other authenticity indicators: labels, tags, stitching, and overall construction.
05 Why do some shirts share the same product code?
Some shirts share the same product code because manufacturers often reuse a base code across multiple kits. This is especially common with template designs, where the same underlying shirt is used for different teams, seasons, or colorways.

This is normal and doesn't necessarily indicate a fake on its own. It just means extra details are needed to identify the exact shirt.
06 Can collectors or retailers contribute to kitcod.es?
Yes. Both collectors and retailers are a big part of how kitcod.es improves over time.

Every product code lookup helps highlight gaps, inconsistencies, or missing kits in the database. Experienced collectors and retailers can contribute by submitting corrections, confirming matches, or sharing additional information. Reach out through our feedback page.

All contributions are reviewed before being added. Real-world knowledge from people who handle these shirts every day is what keeps the database accurate.
